Ford Offers 6 Practical Fuel Saving Tips To Follow Religiously
Proud owner of a 2015 Mustang GT Coupé. On Saturday I walked into the showroom without the intention of buying a car. And at the end of the conversation with Majid, I made a deal. My first impression of the store is A+. Merchandise, the showroom is great. They did their very best to deliver the car before the following week. I sent it to some friends who need a nice new car. Thank you to all the staff at CRS Auto for a great shopping experience. Matt Kuhn

In a recent survey conducted by Ford Motor Company, 783 drivers in the Philippines were asked about their driving habits and fuel efficiency.
Fuel Saving Driving Tips
Ninety-four percent said they know how to drive their car so it can be used safely, and 98% said they do everything they can to drive safely every day.
“Unfortunately, when it comes to fuel economy, there is a big gap between what most of us think we know and what we actually do,” said Kevin Tallio, General Manager, Engines, Ford Motors Asia Pacific. “For example, our research has shown that most people have not thought about the potential fuel-saving benefits of using GPS or cruise control,” he said.
So, what do Filipino drivers get wrong when it comes to driving tips that can help keep their gas tank full in the long run?
Habit #1: 34 percent of Filipino drivers are unaware that excessive speeding and braking negatively affects their vehicle’s performance. Fact: Erratic driving – such as braking too hard or taking off too quickly – is a major crime when it comes to wasting fuel.
How To Optimize Your Deliveries And Save Fuel
Habit #2: About a fifth of Filipino drivers believe that running the engine when not driving saves a lot of fuel. Fact: Turning off the engine and then restarting it actually saves fuel. If your car has start/stop or autostop technology, you’re one step ahead.
Habit #3: 84 percent of drivers do not know the benefits of using cruise control oil. Fact: Cruise control is the modern car’s secret weapon against fuel. By maintaining a constant speed, you don’t waste fuel by unnecessary braking and speeding, and you avoid driving faster than the legal limit.
Habit #4: Only 27 percent know how to use GPS to plot a quick route before hitting the road. Fact: It seems obvious, but the longer you drive, the more fuel you use. You can save both time and money by checking your route on a GPS system before hitting the road. You can use smartphone-based systems such as Waze or Google Maps.
Habit #5: More than half (57 percent) didn’t know that driving in the mountains can affect fuel economy. Fact: A long drive in the mountains will use more fuel than driving on flat, straight roads. Driving at higher speeds uses more fuel because the vehicle is working harder to counteract the weight.
Ways To Improve Fuel Efficiency In Your Semi Truck
Habit #6: Most respondents did not know that cold weather (82 percent) and warm weather (58 percent) affect fuel efficiency. Fact: Cold weather can significantly reduce fuel economy because it takes longer for your engine to reach operating temperature. So you may want to consider short trips in cold weather. In hot weather, be careful about how and when you use your air conditioner. For example, when the weather is not too hot, you can drive at low speed with the windows open. Do not always leave the iron in the freezer. Set the fan and thermostat to exactly the right setting.
Habit #7: Only 37 percent of respondents knew that removing heavy items or clutter from the car can save fuel. Fact: Excess weight in the car can hurt your car’s fuel economy. An additional 20 kilos of weight can reduce fuel consumption by almost 100 percent. So try to pack light on that next trip.
Habit #8: 85 percent didn’t know that adding sport tires or body kits to a vehicle can affect fuel efficiency. Truth: Going for the “fast and furious” look of your car may give you more road credibility, but increased spin and drag will reduce fuel economy.
Habit #9: 41 percent of drivers didn’t know that regular maintenance helps save fuel, and 59 percent didn’t know that checking tire pressure regularly also helps save fuel. Fact: Basic knowledge perhaps, but it’s all too easy to forget that a well-maintained car with properly inflated tires will help you stretch your money.
Top Strategies For Maximizing Fuel Efficiency For Owner Operators
While Filipino drivers are showing interest in buying fuel-efficient vehicles to save money, good driving habits are the best way to improve fuel economy (and it’s free!)
Simply put, you’ll lose fuel if you accelerate too quickly, so try lightly pressing the accelerator instead. To conserve fuel, it ideally takes about five seconds to accelerate your car from a standstill to 15 kilometers per hour. For manual transmission cars, try a medium speed, between 2000 and 2500 rpm.
Fast falls and quick bursts can increase fuel consumption by about 20%. On the highway, one of the easiest ways to drive is to change the speed control, which eliminates the speed change.
Fuel Efficient Driving Techniques
If you plan to leave early, you can maintain the speed of your car. Keep an eye on the road, be considerate of other drivers and pedestrians, and keep enough distance between you and the car in front of you, not only to save gas but also to stay safe while driving.
It is rare that to avoid an accident you have to quickly slam on the brakes. However, when it comes to everyday driving problems, it is better to go through a red light or stop sign to save money and fuel. Not only is the powertrain more fuel efficient, but it is also much kinder to the brakes and tires, reducing repair and maintenance costs.
Although it varies by car type, gas mileage in most cars usually starts to suffer when you drive above 50 mph. According to Fueleconomy.gov, every five miles per hour driven over 50 miles per hour equals an additional $14 per gallon, meaning you burn more gasoline the faster you drive.
In addition to these driving skills, making sure your tires are properly inflated while maintaining a maintenance schedule can also help to reduce fuel consumption.

The latest increase, which has taken the domestic price to R20 per liter, is bad news for all of us.
